The department has a new Handbook and other resources available to assist you with life inside the DFM. The Handbook has information about our employment policies, general employment information, leaves of absence, benefits, and other helpful tips.
We also have a “Who’s Who” that lists key personnel and their responsibilities so you know who to call for what.
Tara Wood, Program Coordinator, FM Fellowships
Member of DFM since: BRAND NEW – Starting March 1
I am going to be the GME Coordinator for the DFM fellowships and the psychology internship program. In short, I will be making sure that everything in the background is running as should be so the program directors and faculty can focus on teaching and the fellows can focus on learning.
What are the three most important things you’re working on?
- As soon as I start I will be working on the Hospice/Palliative Care Site Visit which is just 3 weeks after I begin!
- Then there is orientation…
- Just figuring everything out. No pressure!
Why do you like working for DFM?
Even though I have not started as of writing this, so many people have already been so friendly and welcoming!
What are your passions?
I love helping others. I am a big advocate of human rights, elephant conservation, and animal adoption.
What do you do away from work?
I love to travel, play poker, watch movies, and go to sporting events. While I am completely obsessed with football and soccer (I am a Rapids season ticket holder), I am also a former makeup artist and because of that obsessed with beauty products!
I have been a Dave Matthews fan since the early 90’s. I prefer his acoustic stuff with Tim Reynolds the best, though the whole band puts on an amazing show!
Favorite movie and why?
Probably Amélie. I love the way she views life and how she touches everyone she meets in a positive way, all while being shy (as I can be when I first meet people).
I can’t stand balloons. Yes, it is from something that happened when I was a kid, which I apparently have not grown out of.
We are making an effort to “practice what we preach” in terms of adopting and maintaining health living habits. We have started an informal walking program at AO1 – walking for 30 minutes each M/W/F as weather permits.
We are holding our first “Family Fitness Committee” meeting on Wednesday, February 27th, 3-4 PM to determine how we can go about incorporating wellness into our department.
